We have opted to make
robust figures that paint well and can be
used to create a good visual effect.
We have set out to make
a range of decent miniature figures that
look good on the wargaming tabletop as
formed units and include a number of
personalities and characters that will
grace the display cabinets of painters and
collectors if painted to the appropriate
standard. We aim to give all our figures
great character but a few of them are
intinsically beautiful too!
Our figures are also
designed to reflect the characteristics of
our species as defined in our background
literature. In theory there are no humans
in Newbold World although some of our
species have a similar look and feel to
humans. As a generalisation our species are
bigger and stronger than humans and are
often made up of clearly defined
sub-species that have different physical
characteristics and body proportions to
each other and to humans. And even within
the same sub-species heights and weights
can vary significantly just as they do with
humans.
Our Skoog
Species Gallery should help to illustrate the
physical differences within and between our
species referred to above.
The nearest tag in
common usage that reflects the scale we have chosen would be heroic
28mm scale but we do not like it.
Technically it is not a scale at all and is
interpreted differently by different
manufacturers. So for the purists amongst
you our figures are roughly in 1/55 scale measured from sole of foot to
top of head. Most of our personalities and
characters have their height and build
defined in our background literature and we
scale down from there. Our figures are
meant to portray the differences in height
and build between the personalities that
they represent. So for example a character
described in our literature as being six
feet six inches (195cm) tall would be
represented by a model which is 35mm tall
whereas a character described as being five
feet six inches (165cm) tall would be
represented by a model only 30mm tall.
