Sponsorship &
publicity are
not everyone’s cup of tea but they
lie at the very heart of the Newbold
Challenge and are crucial to what we are
trying to achieve.
This is how our
sponsorship works : The Newbold family and its friends
sponsor Ian Newbold to organise and run the
Challenge in exactly the same way you might
sponsor one of your friends or relatives to
train for and run in the London Marathon in
support of their favourite charity. All the
money raised in this way rapidly fills up a large bucket and is donated in its
entirety to Children in Need or Comic
Relief at regular intervals. Whatever is
raised in this way Ian matches by filling
up a second
large bucket with
his own loot. He then uses this second
bucket to provide the prizes and trophies
and to sponsor other people to participate
in the Challenge. For example every time
someone enters the Challenge Ian takes
£1 from his bucket and donates it to
Children in Need or Comic Relief. As
another example Ian will sponsor a handful
of fairly well known figure painters to
produce super paintjobs for our
competitions that will eventually be
auctioned off on ebay with all the sales
proceeds being donated to one of our worthy
causes.
Over the last two years
our own sponsorship activites and the
attendant publicity inspired many other
people to join in and provide additional
contributions of their own. For example a
bunch of very generous people donated their
own figures for auction, yet others simply
gave us cash donations and many of the
freelance sculptors and figure painters who
work with us donated very significant parts
of their normal ongoing fees to our worthy
causes. All the money raised in these and
other ways filled up a third large bucket and was donated in its
entirety to our worthy causes. We have
already received several indications that
something similar will happen again this
year. If you would like to join this
intrepid band of folk in some way please
don’t hesitate to contact us here.
And we also fill up a fourth large bucket with all the income
generated by the sale of Newbold World
figures via our Olde Worlde E-Mail Shoppe
and that bucket gets donated in its
entirety to our worthy causes. So even if
you just buy a couple of figures from us
and don’t enter the Challenge itself
you will still be supporting our very
worthy causes.
We are quite keen to broaden the Challenge’s
appeal if we can
and with this in mind we would be happy to
consider sponsoring a small number of
competitions organised elsewhere. If
you’d like a better idea of what we
might be able to do in this respect just
