The Dross
1.   The Dross are a warm blooded species with a natural lifespan of around 80 years.

2.   They are the species that most resemble humankind in overall terms having similar facial characteristics, the same range of skin and hair colourings, similar body parts and internal organs and similar breeding and  eating and drinking patterns.

3.   Although they are hardier than humans they are more susceptible to disease and the aging process than other Newbold World species and a goodly proportion of them decline into poor health from around 60 years of age or so and die well before achieving their natural lifespan.

4.   There are several sub-species of Dross and they all produce magic users (fantasy settings) and psi-adepts sci-fi settings) ranging from those with only moderate talent to a handful in every generation who have great power and talent. Dross magic users tend to have longer lifespans than the norm for their species and there are instances of the most powerful ones reaching 200 years of age and more.

5.   Each sub-species of Dross originally had its own fairly distinctive physical build and unique body proportions. These distinctions have begun to blur as the Dross sub-species have a much greater tendency to inter-breed with each other than is the norm within other species.

6.   The main sub-species are :-

          a. Dross Ethereals : Super slim bodies.
          b. Dross Ords : Wide range of shapes & sizes and human proportions.
          c. K-Dross : Big and sturdily built with large heads and hands.
          c. Q-Dross : Very short and sturdy with large heads and hands.
          d. R-Dross : Wide range of shapes and sizes with largish heads and hands.
          e. U-Dross : Very tall and powerfully built with largish heads and hands.
