The idea : is to make our own
small contribution to promoting the figure
painting side of our hobby. Our way of
doing this is to provide a series of
opportunities for those who love painting
miniature figures to showcase their skills.
And along the way we’ll provide them
with the opportunity to win a modest prize
for themselves and to do a bit of good for
a very worthy cause.
A series of
opportunities : We’ll
try to run two or three events a year if
there is sufficient interest.
The showcase : Just send us at least a
couple of photos (front and back views :
around 500 pixels x 500 pixels) of your
entry and we’ll pop them into a
Viewing Gallery for the duration of the
event in question.
Publicity vs Anonymity :
We’ll
identify the miniature and manufacturer by
name right from the outset. We’ll
identify the figure painter too unless they
prefer to be anonymous until after the
judging is over. If the figure painter
decides to be named upfront they can show
the paintjob anywhere else they wish on the
internet even while our event is in
progress!
A modest prize : £50 GBP ($100
USD) to the winner.
A bit of good : We’ll donate a second
£50 to Children
in Need on
the winner’s behalf. And we’ll
donate £1 to Children in Need on
behalf of each person who enters up to a
maximum of £50.
Who can enter? : Anyone at all. A staff
professional entering on behalf of a big
company, a freelance professional entering
for a smaller firm (including ourselves) or
on his own behalf or any kind of
enthusiastic amateur. Everyone is most
welcome whether they are a figure painting
superstar or an absolute beginner. The
important thing is to have a little fun and
do a little good.
Our additional
sponsorship : In
addition to providing the winner’s
prize and the donations to Children in Need
we’ll try to sponsor a couple of well
known figure painters to take part so that
there are at least a couple of good entries
in there for you to measure yourself
against. Our sponsorship in this way will
generate an additional donation to Children
in Need.
How many entries? : No more than two per
figure painter in any event.
Scale : Generally anything in
the range 28mm to 54mm but please feel free
to ask us about something different.
Subject Matter : Absolutely anything at
all. Can be any genre you can think of.
Historical, fantasy, sci-fi or anything
else, all are most welcome.
New Work or Existing
Pieces? : We
like both so you can submit anything that
hasn’t already been entered in one of
our events. And we don’t mind if
it’s been entered in (or even won)
other competitions run by other people in
the past. If you want to showcase it again
you can do so here.
